Signs Of A Sociopath

Everyone wants something. Most will find ways to get what they want, but what separates individuals is how far they are willing to go to get what they want. Sociopaths are extreme individuals who will go to any extreme if they think they will be able to get what they want. They will often switch back and forth between appearing stable and triumphant to being the victim and assigning the blame for their actions on another. Sociopaths can often be mistaken for narcissists or psychopaths since they are similar on the surface, but neither preys on other individuals quite like a sociopath. When individuals dig below the surface, they will find distinct differences between sociopathy and other mental disorders.

They Are Superficial And Manipulative

Sociopaths use their manipulative social skills to get what they want. Sometimes they say certain things or do certain things that are, most of the time, found charming. However, most individuals don't say or do some of the things sociopaths are comfortable with saying or doing. They are superficial and manipulative in speech and behavior. They are very self-centered in their lives, but when they give their attention to others, it's sometimes hard to tell how self-involved they really are.

Few think the way sociopaths do; for them, extremes are the norm. They will come across as extraordinarily charming or extremely threatening, depending on what form of manipulation they think it will take, to get what they want. They observe what others want, what they like, and what is pleasing—this knowledge fuels their superficial charm, and their intelligence feeds their manipulative behavior. They know how to seek out the weak—lonely individuals or others with self-esteem issues are especially susceptible to their flattery and charm. Not all manipulative individuals are sociopaths, but sociopaths do manipulate (and prey on) the weaker.
