What Are The Types Of Dystonia?
November 4, 2019
Dystonia is a movement disorder that causes the muscles in an individual's body to contract out of their control, producing a twisting motion of the affected body part that causes abnormal postures and repeated movements. The entire body, one muscle group, or a single muscle can be affected by symptoms of dystonia. Symptoms can vary from one type of dystonia to the next, but the most common symptoms include foot cramping, blinking uncontrollably, speech problems, involuntary neck pulling, and a dragging leg. Dystonia can be caused by any mechanism that produces damage to the basal ganglia.
